The Power of Unlimited Imagination

Neville Goddard is known as a mystic who interpreted the Bible as a psychological study of human consciousness. He cautioned against taking the Bible literally because he believed that doing so would not lead to a true understanding of its teachings. Instead, he taught that Biblical characters are personifications of the different states of the mind of a person.
Goddard’s primary teaching is what he called “The Law of Assumption.” According to Goddard, an assumption, whether it appears to be true or false, positive or negative, will develop into fact if we persist in acting as if it were true.
Consciousness is the only reality. What we see and experience in life is actually
our consciousness mirrored in the world. If there is something we want to
change in our world, we first need to change our consciousness. Decide what
you want in your life, then accept it as being true; this brings it into
manifestation. The Universe has no motive of its own. It manifests what is in
the mind.
Goddard’s idea of God is not of a separate Divine Being. Rather, God and
humans are One Consciousness. God is created in our image. God does not
change, but our ideas of God can change.
We see other people in the roles we assigned them: they are kind or cruel,
smart or dumb, generous or stingy, etc. They reflect the opinions we have of
ourselves. If there is something about another person we do not like, it is
actually one of our own traits that is disturbing us. By being uncritical of
ourselves, we are able to accept others as they are, which brings us into a
happier state of being.
Imagination gives us the power to experience whatever we want. There is no
power outside of us. God is our true Self. We are all One with everyone else
and with God. If our imagination has not caused our desires to manifest yet, it
is because we have not yet untied ourselves from the state of being we are
currently in. We need to let go of the beliefs that are not congruent with our
desired state of being. “Cast off the Mind of Man and use the Mind of Christ.
Nothing is impossible then.” We do not have to figure out how we are going to
experience what we want. If we truly feel that we have obtained our goal, the
steps that it takes to reach it will happen without us struggling to figure them
out.

Christ of Galilee
In the ever-radiating Presence of a power I cannot see;
I can feel the Christly essence of the man of Galilee.
His cloak is ‘round about me, his words clearly in my ears;
No longer do I fear the tempest, nor the passing of the years.
The loving truth he taught me will forever be my guide;
I shall no longer stumble upon the path at eventide.
