Life Is A Wonder
Life is a wonder, yes indeed. I love being able to get up in the morning, and go outside to feed the three feral cats. Watching their eyes as I speak to them! Knowing they don’t know if they need to run and hide, or come closer to me and the food I am holding. Then I look up into the clear blue skies and fluffy clouds floating by and smell the amazing fresh air that stirred after the weekend’s rain. Wow amazing to be able smell the Rose of Sharon’s and Crepe Myrtles that are still blooming in my backyard. To watch the monarch butterfly flutter down to sip the juice of the flowers still in bloom. To see eagles soaring high above and speaking into quiet of the morning.
Yes, life can be a wonder when you realize there is a silent vibration in the All of Life, and you can hear and feel it. That is why, when I became aware of It, this Living Energy that we live, more and have our being immersed within, I go out each morning to spend some time in conscious awareness of the Stillness and Wonder. It is much more important to be aware of this silent vibration in the All of Life, then to get caught up in what is happening on my computer and emails and Facebook, or the TV news. Yes indeed, it is much more important to experience the wonder of life in this moment now, and the silent vibration of the One Presence surrounding us and inviting to be aware of It, and to listen to Its promptings.
However, to experience this wondrous silent vibration, we must learn to consciously engage the spiritual faculty of Zeal, and direct its energy to what you would like to experience. Which, in our western culture, can be a little difficult to do, because we live in a culture where the faculty of zeal has gone wild. 50,000 people at a football game yelling and screaming at the 22 people playing a game down on a field hundreds of yards away. The same thing happens at basketball games, soccer and boxing matches, TV Shows, and night clubs, where we are given permission to yell and scream and let our frustrations and upsets out. This energy then goes out to fill the cells of our body, and the atmosphere of our world all around us, where it is absorbed by the living creatures all around us!
Zeal can be a wild thing that can be very destructive unless you learn to guide it into that “Secret Place,” where zeal can be harnessed with Wisdom and Faith. Once you have harnessed zeal, it adds zest, energy, joy, and enthusiasm to the rest of your Spiritual Powers. Zeal is tremendously powerful, for it is God manifesting as energy within us. Close your eyes, still yourself, enter into “the Presence” and think about what it means to be filled with the raw energy of God right now! If you don’t feel the energy moving within you, just pause and allow yourself to move deeper. The movement happens because you feel awe, wonder, or amazement that such power can be within you. That awe or wonder can be a form of silent praise which sets zeal into motion. Do not be dismayed if you didn’t feel anything. Divine Zeal is always present because God is always present. Sometimes we just have to learn how to activate It. It will come forth as enthusiasm or it will come welling up as joy. Sometimes when you seek the enthusiasm and joy of Zeal you may discover it as a sense of peace. Zeal does not have to be boisterous, nor should it be. It is an inner feeling tingling in your fingers, toes and heart!
“To wait upon the Lord” is carving out a space within us to establish our awareness of the Creative Force of Life moving through us in each moment. Each moment is very important, for it is God’s moment; when you wake up in the morning, when you walk out into your garden, when you sit down to eat a meal, when you are talking to a friend, just become still and centered. Sense the creative energy of the “I Am” tingling in your fingertips, guiding your hands, directing your footsteps, putting words into your mouth, helping you to do all things easily and with joy.
Namaste, I see Light in you. Rev. Doc. Patrick
