Minister's Letter for September 2025
The Intrigue of Divine Order
I find it intriguing in watching the movie Harry Potter and Philosopher Stone (which we watched yesterday) while trying to understand how the Spiritual Faculty of Divine Order shows up in our every day. Harry gets sent a letter from Hogwarts School, but his uncle, who is a Muggle, who represents the mortal mind and intercepts the letter. Hogwarts School represents the training we need to live in awareness of Spiritual Dimension. Harry represents our awakening super conscious mind! Well Hogwarts sends more and more letters, until Harry’s Uncle, the mortal mind, decides to go to the Zoo. The Zoo is the place where our muggle minds, have decided to display various beautiful parts of nature and wild life behind windows. Harry’s cousin then falls through a plate glass window! Then this amazing snake, which represent a part of nature, begins talking to Harry, then fleas from captivity. Ultimately, Harry’s Uncle, the muggle mind, decides to go on vacation with the family to a distant island where they can lock themselves in a cabin. But that’s when Hagrid shows up, a great big wooly looking man who represents spiritual strength. He is able to share with Harry the message that Hogwarts School and the Spiritual Awareness has to share with him, and each of us.
What is this message that Hogwarts School and the Spiritual Awareness have to share with us? We are all on a Spiritual Journey in this Mystical Dimension called Life, and we can either allow our muggle minds to ignore the letters and our turning point experiences and just deal with the bumps and bruises we receive! Or we can go to Hogwarts School (or a Unity Spiritual Life Center,) to learn about the spiritual tools within our grasp, to guide us on our journey.
Intriguingly, the book we are discussing on Thursday nights at 7 pm, Living Between Two Worlds, by Joel Goldsmith, begins at that very same point! We are living in two worlds, the physical world dominated by the mortal mind’s beliefs, which cannot see beyond its beliefs and limitations, and the Mystical Dimension, which is just beyond what our muggle minds can see and experience.
We are being offered one of two choices; to continue to experience the bumps and bruises of the material world and our muggle minds, or we can open our awareness to the spiritual dimension and seek to understand the letters and the promptings of the Mystical Dimensions. This is why I think it is interesting that when Harry, who represents the awakening conscious awareness, learns the game called the Quidditch. He gets assigned the role of the Seeker. The Seeker is the one who is supposed to chase and catch this golden ball filled with light. In the game of Quidditch he is given support players to help him with his role.
At Hogwarts while he is learning the game of Quidditch and his role as seeker, he uses this persona in another game, while trying to understand the dynamics of the mystical dimension present at Hogwarts. Repeatedly, Harry as seeker, is given promptings to follow something tugging at his awareness to follow a certain path! Mysteriously Ron or/and Hermione just show up to help, support and guide him to the goal, which is the just the way Divine Order works. While Harry represents the Conscious Awareness, the seeker within us, Hermoine represents the power of Spiritual Discernment, traditionally called wisdom and/or judgement. In her ongoing study of everything related to her acquiring wisdom, she is able to intuitively discern certain dynamics and apply them. Ron represents learning how to use and engage the power of faith. All three of these faculties exist within us! As we begin our journey in the spiritual dimension, we must learn how these faculties work and how to engage when the opportunity arises. Just as Harry, Ron and Hermione learn to do in their first year at Hogwarts. We also can learn to use these spiritual faculties, as we begin our spiritual journey. It’s all in Divine Order! Thing will occur and we can choose to open the letters we receive. If not, Spirit will keep calling.
