Living Between Two Worlds

  By Joel Goldsmith Goldsmith (1892 - 1964)

Joel Goldsmith was a teacher of spiritual principles that he called “The Infinite Way.” This book is the result of Mr. Goldsmith’s receiving an “unfoldment” from Divine Spirit.

There are two levels of Consciousness—the mortal and the spiritual. Mortal consciousness exists in the material world where our human level of awareness is found. We have physical bodies and live on the level of mind. Opposite states are experienced on this level such as health and sickness, abundance and poverty, etc. Judgements about what is good and evil are made.

Spiritual Consciousness is where no judgements are made and there are no limitations. We are all One with the Divine. There is no lack of anything as there is in the material world. In fact, nothing that is in the material world exists here.

For thousands of years, most of humanity has been living outside of its Spiritual Consciousness. We have chosen to manifest a materialistic world out of our mortal consciousness, where we are separate from one another and live in the personal “I.” It is as if each of us hides behind a mask, judging one another by what the mask shows us, rather than seeing our true beings, which are spiritual. We have become victims of what we created.

Everyone has a Spiritual Consciousness whether we are aware of it or not. When we live in the Spiritual world, there is no such thing as a personal “I” as there is in the material world. Instead, we recognize the “I Am” that is in each one of us and know that we are One in the Divine. Love fills the Divine, thus filling us. Everything we need is provided on this Spiritual level.

No amount of studying will cause us to connect with the Divine Consciousness. Meditation prepares the way to receive truth. It is necessary to give up all human solutions that are based on human ideas of what should be done to open our consciousness to a spiritual solution. “Spiritual power means introducing the Spirit of God into the situation–not to prove right or wrong–and then letting the chips fall where they may.”

Rev. Doc Patrick has been holding classes weekly on Mr. Goldsmith’s book. This is helpful in understanding the author’s teachings. You can find this book in our own Unity Bookstore.

Notes from A Skylark,” The Writings of Schulyer Cronley,

What’s Right With YOU?

So many times people ask the question, “What’s wrong with you?” Or, “What’s wrong with him?”  A question that, even though the questioner gets the right answer, nine times out of ten he doesn’t help either party very much.  We know too much of what is wrong, and not enough of what is right.  Next time you meet someone, ask them, “What’s right with you?” and insist on an answer. The answer you may get might be “nothing’s right, everything is wrong!”  Then is your chance to proclaim what is right!
