12 Steps to Happiness

  By Author Ernie Wood III

Many of you likely attended the recent class at Unity OKC covering this book. I was not able to attend but sure enjoyed the reading, and found benefit in the practices as outlined. This is a self help book that presents basic thought changing tools designed to replace painful thought patterns and to modify detrimental relationships for the better. This process uses metaphysical principles to discover and reveal your inner truths.

Have you ever wondered why it seems that the people around you have an easy and pleasant life while yours seems to be a constant struggle, one challenge after another? Have you ever been curious as to what your purpose in life must be?  Has it ever seemed like the same life lessons keep repeating in your life?  Ever wonder why you never seem to get ahead, or even just catch up?

This book offers an opportunity for introspection to explore your inner truths and to help you to recognize non-truths that come from cultural deficits and continued chaos.  These non-truths are deeply embedded in all of us, but we do have the power and spiritual knowledge to change our thinking to change our lives.

This book uses a process known as systemic happiness, which was developed by the author, Ernie Wood III. Wood promotes the use of evidence based practices such as mindfulness practice, developing healthy social connections, enhancing natural personal strength, and using gratitude as a force for good in your life. Wood also recommends practicing acts of kindness, finding purpose for life and strengthening personal sense of well being.

Wood outlines four core rules of thought to guide us into the practice of systemic happiness:

Rule 1:  You can only have one thought at a time

Rule 2:  Every thought has emotion attached to it

Rule 3:  You have the ability to choose your thoughts (free will)

Rule 4: All thoughts create

I recommend these simple and helpful practices as a boost to wellbeing overall. Find your inner peace even within chaos around you. Let me know how it goes!

Notes from A Skylark,” The Writings of Schulyer Cronley,

What’s Right With YOU?

So many times people ask the question, “What’s wrong with you?” Or, “What’s wrong with him?”  A question that, even though the questioner gets the right answer, nine times out of ten he doesn’t help either party very much.  We know too much of what is wrong, and not enough of what is right.  Next time you meet someone, ask them, “What’s right with you?” and insist on an answer. The answer you may get might be “nothing’s right, everything is wrong!”  Then is your chance to proclaim what is right!
