Lenti, Lenti in 2020

Lenti, Lenti in 2020 Learn a new a Lent Discipline For “Rising Up” Into A New Awareness Wednesday at 7 pm The Lenten season has a little bit different meaning in Unity than in the religious world. Charles Fillmore wrote “Lent is a season of spiritual growth, a time for progressive unfoldment. When we can blend and merge our mind with God-Mind, the way is open for the Lord to glorify us and to lift us into a higher purer, more spiritual state.” Sounds like a good plan to me! The Christian world is once again about to observe the Lenten season; the season of prayer, fasting, and giving up things we might love, which precedes the joyous celebration of Jesus rising up on Easter morning. It is commonly believed that the Lenten period has to do with the events of the forty days preceding the Resurrection. This is an erroneous idea. Just read the Bible and you can see it is not there. Lent is a creation of the modern-day Theology, and there isn’t any record of it anywhere in the New Testament. The idea, however, has a sound spiritual basis; Moses, Elijah, and Jesus Himself set a precedent for it. Each observed a forty-day period of entering into the Dome of Creativity to prepare themselves for the spiritual work they were about to do! The ancient Hebrew writers made a practice of using numbers to symbolize ideas. Forty, in their minds, was a "foursquare" number suggesting the idea of a foundation for something to follow; an idea of completeness. So the number forty is frequently used in the Scriptures to indicate an unspecified amount of time to complete preparation for something to follow. When we consider Lent as a well-rounded or completed piece – a retreat from the things of the world for the cleansing of the mortal mind and a connection with the things of Spirit, it becomes a true time of rising up in our mind over the darkness of doubts, fears and false beliefs into the light of a new Understanding. It is a way of rising up in consciousness to live from a new awareness. We will begin Eight-week series that embraces the spiritual discipline of the Lenten Season – not a given up of… well unless you want to, but rather a seeking to embrace the things of Spirit. The series will be based on Charles Fillmore book, Keep a True Lent. SEE credit will be available.
