The Light of Being

The Light of Being seems to be the theme for the month of May. I found it very intriguing that when I started exploring movies to watch on Sunday a

fternoons, I was drawn to two movies that focused on individuals struck by a light and then sought to understand, how that “Light” was transforming their being.  Light is energy moving through the ethers so fast it illuminates the area it is traveling through, including the “characters” playing the lead role. This light of their being is then multiplied when they speak.  The power of their spoken words flashes across the screen and strikes where it is directed.  Eventually the individuals, who are sharing the light of being ascend into another realm of awareness.

I thought it was also intriguing that I have been longing to show the movie Avatar once again.  Metaphorically the movie, Avatar is about the relationship humankind as with Mother Earth, and how some corporations seek to strip our Mother Earth of all it’s natural resource without concern for Mother Earth or her inhabitants. And then these little “light beings” begin to bubble up at the Sacred Core of Mother Earth, awakening the Light of Being in all living entities, who are receptive and can live in awareness of this light of being within them. Once again, this Light of Being is multiplied through the power of the spoken word, especially when connected with “the I Am” of their being.

Then when I opened the Daily Word, the first two readings of the month were on Joy and Awakening. Then this affirmation jumped in to my mind, “I am awakening to the Light of Being and Its amazing joy, wonder and Life. I know with each word I speak; I am lighting up the ethers with Its Blessings.

I believe with all the crazy things going on in the world, that Spirit, the Breath and Life of Mother Earth, is calling us to awakening to the “Light of Being” that is within us, and learn to direct its energy and wonder so we might restore our great Mother, Mother Earth to sanity. I know all Native American Cultures, and probably all Native cultures would agree with the storyline shared in the movie Avatar.   And yes, even Jesus shared similar insights saying 4“You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. 15No one after lighting a lamp puts it under the bushel basket, but on the lampstand, and it gives light to all in the house. 16In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Divine Mother in the Field of Infinite Possibilities. (Matthew 5:14-16 NRPV)” Think about the last 30 minutes of the movie Avatar, and how when the Na'vi people finally pause and connect with the Divine Oneness, light particles begin bubble up and fill all native life, dissolving the power of the darkness of its invader.

At a turning point in the movie Avatar Grace says, “It is as if it is an electromagnetic field surrounding all the life. It flows from one form of organism to another, in a kind of symbiotic relationship. Invariable all things are tied together by this flowing moving energy.” It would seem this thought is a cut and paste into the movies Powder and Phenomenon and the beginning point of the main characters realizing the Light of Being. Their challenge becomes how to share their insights and awareness of this remarkable electromagnetic field flowing through them with others.  Jesus experienced the same challenge, although he at least had some training with this electromagnetic field and had some insights into how to direct it. Hum?!?! If we are to allow our Light of Being to shine, as Jesus said we should do, how exactly do we do it? Especially if there are those around us who are not able and don’t want to acknowledge that this electromagnetic field (that light of being) is flowing through us, as gift of healing and wisdom, as was demonstrated in Powder and Phenomenon.

In the movie Avatar there is a saying Wa na ke pa na – I see you! I see beyond the many masks you wear into the depths of your soul.  I see the real you!”

I see the light of Being in you. Namaste, RevDocPatrick
