Birth 2012

This month I am writing about one of my favorite 20th Century visionaries Barbara Marx Hubbard and her groundbreaking book, BIRTH 2012 and Beyond. Beware that we will also be showing to of her movies, that are based on this book. Wow!
From depressed housewife and mother of five who had no personal vision, to an acclaimed spokesperson who found not only her own vision in life, but has gone on to engage and connect with many, many people from all walks of life. Ms, Marx Hubbard used all her resources and her finely tuned mind to engage people around the globe in the quest for a better life, and a more stable Mother Earth. The concept of this great change began with examining the Mayan calendar, which ended on December 21, 2012. What might this mean for the planet? Could this be a symbolic beginning of a newer, more sustainable planetary civilization and a new species of humankind?
We all know that we are in as much of a global crisis now as we were when this book was written in 2012. Our Mother Earth is simply no longer able to sustain us as is. Marx Hubbard compares it to a birthing experience on a macro level. When viewed as a whole system, it’s obvious that we are over-populating, polluting and running out of resources. Just as an unborn infant reaches a “due date” of its birth, so too are we overgrowing the “womb of the earth.” And this urgency of global crisis is causing people to wake up all over the planet. Something new is causing us to immerge. We are examining old situations and coming up with new solutions. We are faced with helping create a new world; more peaceful, more equitable. We must evolve into a more co-creative humanity. This is the Spirit within us, rising up in each and every person as a great tide of love, inspiration and oneness with the source of our being. This is the great life that mystics speak of radiating from within each and every one of us. This is how, in the beginning of creation, “out of “no thing” at all, came everything that is, was and will be.
Ervin Laszlo calls this a chaos point. We can no longer right the current situation by restoring or reforming old forms and structures, including government and religious institutions. We must all delve deep and come up with new ways of being that are vital, sustainable and just for all earth life.
As Marx Hubbard suggests, this must involve everyone on earth who is in the midst of waking up to greater love, purpose, compassion, connectivity and the desire to cooperate. It is for all who are able to go beyond the limits of their own beliefs and see what truly resonates in their hearts.
This “great change” is obviously going to take everyone on Planet Earth working together. Talking, sharing ideas, gathering information. It can be as small a group, as a few ladies sharing ideas over tea, or as large as a world summit. The answer lies in all people of all kinds coming together and talking, discussing, reaching new ideas for protecting and sustaining Mother Earth. As we have learned before in mapping out new roads and directions for living with, and surrounded by, Mother Earth, “It takes a village.”

Christ of Galilee
In the ever-radiating Presence of a power I cannot see;
I can feel the Christly essence of the man of Galilee.
His cloak is ‘round about me, his words clearly in my ears;
No longer do I fear the tempest, nor the passing of the years.
The loving truth he taught me will forever be my guide;
I shall no longer stumble upon the path at eventide.
For the ever-radiating presence of this power I cannot see;
Holds me safely and securely, O blessed Christ of Galilee.
