Learn a new a Lent Discipline For “Rising Up” Into A New Awareness
Beginning Wednesday – Feb. 26th at 7 pm
In our conversation of the past few weeks we have talked about Lent and what it means in Unity. Charles Fillmroe said,, “Lent is a season of spiritual growth, a time for progressive unfoldment. When we can blend and merge our mind with God-Mind, the way is open for the Lord to glorify us and to lift us into a higher purer, more spiritual state.” Sounds like a good plan to me!
The Christian world is once again about to observe the Lenten season; the season of prayer, fasting, and giving up things we might love, which precedes the joyous celebration of Jesus rising up on Easter morning. It is commonly believed that the Lenten period has to do with the events of the forty days preceding the Resurrection. This is an erroneous idea. Lent is a creation of the modern day Theology, and there is record of it anywhere in the New Testament. The idea, however, has a sound spiritual basis; Moses, Elijah, and Jesus Himself set a precedent for it. Each observed a forty-day period of entering into the Dome of Creative to prepare them selves for the spiritual work they were about to do!
