HEARTLINE “211”

For the month of August, the USLC Board of Directors has selected HeartLine 211 to be the recipient of our tithe to a local charitable organization.  HeartLine 211 (simply dial 211) is a crisis intervention service providing compassionate listening services to our community for 47 years at no cost to the caller.  HeartLine defines a crisis as any circumstance where someone feels faced with a situation where they do not perceive the strength, resources or support to go it alone.  This might involve not having food to feed  the family, money to pay rent or perhaps the “will” to live another day.  The phone is answered 24/7, 365 days a year no matter what by highly trained call specialists.  HeartLine answers the National Suicide Prevention LifeLine (1-800-273-TALK) for the state of Oklahoma.  On their website, their Mission Statement is:  To connect Oklahomans to help, hope and information 24 hours a day in addition to providing Suicide Outreach and Education (heartlineoklahoma.org).  If you would like to make your own donation to this worthy cause, you can deposit cash into the Donation Box on the dessert table in the Fellowship Hall which will be forwarded to the agency, or you can give online by going directly to their website.  Please feel free to share this resource with anyone you know who might have use for the service.  Gracias.
